Sustainability

We have created a space that offers you comforts and that has a positive impact too.

It is our intention to support the economy and the wellbeing of the country, while at the same time limiting the impact of shipping long distances. We truly believe that everyone’s small effort can go a long way.

All furniture is made in Tanzania following our designs, with hard wood partly reclaimed from old dhows (the traditional Zanzibari boats). In the decoration of the apartments we have carefully chosen local crafts made by artisans in Zanzibar and Tanzania.

Our garden is full of local species of trees and plants, some of which are of medicinal use and some are edible. The garden is partly new, but will grow in the next few year with the objective of having all the exterior walls covered by plants.

We have adopted a water saving approach, which meant reusing part of the water into our garden. We have a fully functional grey water system which feeds our plants, in particular bananas. We get to save some water and get some food at the same time – how wonderful! In order to achieve this, we have to make sure that all detergents are grey water safe, we provide all our clients with amazing products for their daily care and for the kitchen. It is very important to use these products and not your own which may not be grey water safe (which is not just biodegradable…).

We also offset your carbon footprint by planting one tree in our farm for each of you staying.
